_Support - How You Can Help!_

One part of our mission, which we hope to have done throughout the website, is to educate. Knowledge and personal affect are the roots of action-based change. If the information, the revelation of systemic injustice, has spurned you to wanting to make a difference, this page can help! We want to direct and act on that energy.

 Civic Agency

Maybe the most vital way that you can help humanize addiction in the United States is by using your civic agency - exercising your American rights and privileges to enact change through government. Most clearly, this means voting for candidates that are impassioned or willing to work to support more humane, effective drug policy. This is not just voting for the President! This is at every level of United States government, from city, to state, to country. Do your part! Register to vote here.

Furthermore, another great way to use civic agency to enact change is to work with or on politicians. Remember, politicians are designed to represent and serve their constituents. Contact your elected officials and see their position on the issue. Support and advocate for change.

 Resources

The Drug Policy Alliance envisions a just society in which the use and regulation of drugs are grounded in science, compassion, health and human rights, in which people are no longer punished for what they put into their own bodies but only for crimes committed against others, and in which the fears, prejudices and punitive prohibitions of today are no more.

Their mission is "to advance those policies and attitudes that best reduce the harms of both drug use and drug prohibition, and to promote the sovereignty of individuals over their minds and bodies."

Loved one struggling with addiction? CALL: 1-800-HELP (4357) or go to their website. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) is here to help. The Treatment Referral Routing Service is a confidential helpline, operating 24/7 365 days a year. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations, and is available in both English and Spanish.
